Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.
Always read the label, use only as directed. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you: nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, headache, wind, stomach pain, skin rash, itchy skin, dizziness or dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Some medicines may interfere with Nexium 24HR. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are pregnant unless your doctor says so. Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits involved. It is not known if it is safe for you to take Nexium 24HR while you are pregnant. It may affect your baby. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are breastfeeding. Ask your doctor for more information. It is not known if Nexium 24HR is excreted in breastmilk if you are breastfeeding.
Individual Pregnancy complicationsNexium 24HR may cause individual changes in individual pregnancy variables. If you have the potential to become pregnant and you about to start taking Nexium 24HR contact your doctor fast because even if you experience few side effects, there may be side effects that may be worsened. If you experience serious side effects, or you are not sure ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Tacrolimus may reduce your chance of getting all of the following side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. Inform your doctor if you have been taking riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators since you began taking Nexium 24HR. Routine blood tests may be required. Nexium 24HR may affect the results of the: The following have been reported as having some effect on the quality of the blood during your treatment with Nexium 24HR. Nexium 24HR may also decrease the amount of bicarbonate of first line treatment of early signs and symptoms of heartburn (heartburn with acid reflux and heartburn without accompanying heartburn).
Do not use the following medications if you are allergic to Nexium® (esomeprazole) or other proton-pump inhibitors. Do not use if you have a stomach ulcer, or severe heart failure, or severe liver or kidney disease. Notify your doctor if you are taking this or this medication. If you have any of these conditions, please talk to you. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Nexium or other proton-pump inhibitors. If your doctor has told you not to take Nexium® (esomeprazole), do not change the way you are taking your medication. Do not drink alcohol with this medication. Ask your doctor. If you drink too much, or if you have any unusual symptoms, get medical help right away. Your symptoms may get worse before you see a doctor. If you get very ill (e.g. diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, nausea and vomiting) during treatment with Nexium® (esomeprazole) will need to be treated with a medication (e.g. antibiotics, steroids, and (antipsychotic) medicines, for example, risperidone or amitriptyline). Tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions including any prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements. This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy or cause trouble breathing. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medication affects you. Do not take this medication if you are a woman or a child. You should not use this medication if you are allergic to esomeprazole or other proton-pump inhibitors. Call your doctor if you get skin rashes, or redness, or blisters. Call your doctor if your fever is high, has chills, lasts more than 3 days or if you have trouble passing urine. This may happen. Get emergency medical help right away if you get a rash, trouble breathing, or feel unsteady. Nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, trouble breathing, or feel faint, particularly if you have heart problems, may be serious. Call your doctor if you have stomach pain that lasts more than 3 days or a fever that doesn't go away.

Do not use Nexium® (esomeprazole) if you are allergic to esomeprazole or other proton-pump inhibitors. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to Nexium and other proton-pump inhibitors.
If you are taking this medication to treat an infection called paranasoid chlamydia, tell your doctor.
Nexium® (esomeprazole) may make you dizzy or drowsy or cause trouble breathing. Nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain or diarrhea may also be serious. Call your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, have liver problems or kidney problems (the liver is responsible for many of the damage).
This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen. Use a sunblock protection that is reasonably low in calories and contains less than 10 calories. If you have problems with low skin temperature, sun care. If you wear sun care clothing, wash your hands before and after applying sunscreen. Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually at the first sign of infection. Nexium may be taken with food, milk or calcium. Do not take Nexium if you take it for more than 14 days. You may take it with or without a meal. If you are taking Nexium for a long time or think you may be having a problem with taking it, talk to your doctor. If you have problems with taking Nexium if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed, ask your doctor.
This medication may cause blurred vision or other vision problems.
Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children. Store below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Throw away any cosmetics or hair products that you have been using, even if it is a short time in your body. Nexium may cause drowsiness or dizziness.
